Certified Agile Service Manager (CASM℠)  [P-CASM2]


Course topic

This 2-day certification course produced by the DevOps Institute provides an introduction to the application and integration of agile thinking into IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and process design projects.

Agile thinking improves ITSM effectiveness and efficiency while enabling IT to continue to deliver value in a DevOps environment.

Training Objectives

The learning objectives for Certified Agile Service Manager (CASM℠) include an understanding of:

  • What it means to "be agile"
  • The Agile Manifesto, its core values and principles
  • Agile concepts and practices including ITSM, Kanban, Lean and DevOps
  • Scrum roles, artefacts and events as it applies to both products and processes
  • The two aspects of Agile Service Management:
    • Agile Process Improvement - ensuring processes are lean and deliver "just enough" control
    • Agile Process Design - applying agile practices to process design projects

Training Preconditions

There are no mandatory prerequisites, but some familiarity with process management, ITSM processes and ITIL® is recommended.

  • Anyone interested in learning more about Agile and SCRUM from a product ("dev") and process ("ops") perspective
  • Individuals who will serve as the operational equivalent of development’s ScrumMaster
  • Process owners and managers seeking to make their process improvement efforts more "agile"
  • Process stakeholders who are responsible for designing, re-engineering or improving development and operational processes
  • Business and IT stakeholders who wish to understand the principles of Agile Service Management
  • Consultants guiding their clients through process improvement initiatives


  • Successfully passing (65%) the 60-minute examination consisting of 40 multiple-choice questions leads to the Certified Agile Service Manager (CASM℠) certificate
  • The certification is governed, administered and maintained by the DevOps Institute
