The goal of the third lunar mission, Apollo 13, which launched on April 11 1970, was to land another two astronauts on the moon. Today, the crisis-ridden mission, which began with Jim Lovell’s legendary transmission to mission control of “Houston, we have a problem”, has become a byword for an extraordinary collaborative feat of planning and execution.
